Semarang, May 27, 2025 – The Information and Public Relations Study Program once again held a self-development activity aimed at equipping students with non-technical skills or soft skills through a training session themed “Digital and Social Collaboration: Soft Skill to Upgrade Yourself.” This event is a form of academic commitment in preparing students to face the ever-changing and dynamic professional world, especially in today’s digital era.
The training was officially opened by the Study Program Secretary, Jazimatul Husna, S.IP., M.IP, representing the Head of the Study Program. In her opening remarks, she expressed appreciation for the presence of the guest speakers, lecturers, participants, and the organizing committee who supported the event from planning to execution.
Two guest speakers from different professional backgrounds were invited to provide a broad perspective on the importance of soft skills in the workplace.
The first speaker, Fariz Firdaus, S.Ikom, who serves as Corporate Communication & CESR at PT Kawasan Industri Wijayakusuma, shared his experiences on the importance of communication skills, empathy, and social responsibility within the industrial sector, particularly through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Meanwhile, the second speaker, Siswandi, S.TP, a digital creator and owner of Grow Optima Consultant, shared insights from the creative digital world. He emphasized how personality, creativity, and interpersonal skills have become vital assets in building a strong presence in the highly competitive digital environment.
This training not only delivered insightful material but also encouraged participants to reflect on the social values embedded in every digital and professional interaction. Participants gained a deeper understanding that skills such as leadership, communication, collaboration, and empathy are fundamental in facing today’s challenges.
In addition, the event served as a platform to bridge digital advancements with social values, reminding students that they are expected to be not only technically proficient but also emotionally and socially competent.
The event was warmly received with great enthusiasm from students, lecturers, and even industry practitioners. The entire session ran smoothly and was filled with a collaborative spirit.
With this training, it is hoped that participants will gain new perspectives and motivation to continually improve their soft skills, optimize their personal potential, and build meaningful social networks—both in the real and digital world.
