Semarang, July 25, 2025 – As times change, the wedding organizer (WO) business has experienced rapid growth, following changes in lifestyle and the preferences of modern couples. Younger generations are also taking on important roles, including becoming key players in this creative industry. One such young individual who dared to start her career in the wedding organizer and documentation business is Muna Auliyaun Naafi’, an alumna of the Information and Public Relations Program at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University, class of 2019.
Since 2022, Muna has successfully built her career as the founder of Shankara Wedding Organizer and Iramafilm documentation services. In an interview, Muna shared her story about how her college years shaped her into who she is today.
“In university, equipped with various knowledge from the Information and Public Relations Program, has helped me grow into who I am today. Some of the knowledge, such as public speaking, public relations, conflict management, public relations, and even governance, alhamdulillah, has enabled me to become an emcee or MC in Central Java, West Java, and DIY, for both formal and informal events, having accompanied over a thousand events and weddings,” said Muna.
She stated that the knowledge she gained during her studies became an important foundation in building her career. Not only has she successfully started a wedding organizer business, Muna has also been able to implement her public relations skills by becoming a protocol officer and reporter at the Brebes Police Public Relations Office from 2022 to the present. Before entering the professional world, Muna was active in various activities during her college years. She served as Vice Chair of Interests and Talents in the Student Association, was in charge of the Cakrawala UNDIP Student Press Institute, and was a staff member of Perhumas Muda Semarang.
In closing, Muna conveyed a message to students and juniors in the Information and Public Relations Study Program.
“Although the Information and Public Relations Program is not as established as other programs, the knowledge within it is more than capable of helping us grow significantly and even become extraordinary. Believe in that. Follow every process, appreciate what you have, and keep honing your skills, because nothing is impossible. There’s no need to feel inferior; we are all capable and can be supported by and support Information and Public Relations. Because within it lies a wealth of knowledge and immense potential that can be developed into something others may not have even considered or attempted.”
Through dedication, consistency, and the courage to seize opportunities, Muna has proven that becoming a young entrepreneur is not just a dream, but the result of a long process undertaken with perseverance and unwavering belief.
