Semarang, July 10, 2025 — The Information and Public Relations Study Program of the Vocational School at Diponegoro University successfully held its second Visiting Professor program entitled “#DigitalYouth: From Clicks to Change in Indonesia and Malaysia” on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 08.00 AM (WIB) via the Zoom Meeting platform.

This event featured a distinguished speaker, Dr. Ali Fauzi bin Ahmad Khan from Universiti Malaya, and was moderated by Rachela Belinda Fatharani, M.I.Kom., a lecturer from the Information and Public Relations Study Program.

In response to the reality that youth today are no longer just media consumers but also contributors to society, culture, and democracy in the digital era, this program aimed to serve as a platform for exchanging insights.

Arifa Rachma Febriyani, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., Head of the Information and Public Relations Study Program, stated that this program is expected to enhance the role of youth as active digital citizens. “This is more than just a lecture; it is a dialogue for young people,” she emphasized.

In his presentation, Dr. Ali Fauzi highlighted the dual realities of the digital ecosystem: on one hand, it offers space for expression, entrepreneurship, and civic participation for youth; on the other, it opens pathways for disinformation, digital surveillance, and social inequality.

“Our younger generation is highly digitally connected, yet still lacks adequate critical thinking and digital ethics,” – Dr. Ali Fauzi.

Several case studies such as “TolakOmnibusLaw” and “The Undi18 Movement” in Malaysia were presented as examples of the power of cross-border digital solidarity in driving social and policy change.

The lecture also emphasized the need for collaboration between governments, universities, the private sector, and civil society to ensure a fair and empowering digital ecosystem. Diponegoro University itself was encouraged to become a pioneer in critical digital curriculum reform.

Ni Putu Eka Budi Pradnya Wulandari Dewi, the event’s chairperson, added that the program also strengthened international academic relations and fostered intellectual growth.

This event is part of the Information and Public Relations Study Program’s ongoing effort to build global academic connections and equip students to become active and responsible digital citizens.
