Semarang, October 23, 2024 – The Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) and the Central Java Provincial Archives and Library Service have strengthened their strategic cooperation through the signing of a Technical Agreement on Archive and Library Management held today (October 23, 2024) in the Fourth Floor Hall of the Central Java Provincial Archives and Library Service. This cooperation, which began in 2017, demonstrates the commitment of both institutions to face the challenges of managing archives and digital libraries in the fast-paced modern era.
The latest agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si, Dean of the Vocational School at UNDIP, and De Francisco Da Silva Tavares, SP, M.Si, Head of the Central Java Provincial Archives and Library Service. This collaboration emphasizes not only the importance of professional archive management but also responds to the need for the integration of digital library systems, which is increasingly crucial in the digital transformation era.
The focus of this collaboration is not only on improving archive management but also on developing a digital library as a more integrated and accessible information center.
Some forms of cooperation that have been and will continue to be enhanced include:
- Exchange of Experts: Strengthening the expertise base in the fields of archives and libraries by involving competent educators and practitioners in archive management and digital library systems.
- Training in Digital Archives and Libraries: Conducting training programs that cover techniques for managing digital archives and integrating digital library technology, enabling participants to respond better to the challenges of digitization.
- Internship and Work Practice Programs: Providing opportunities for students of the Vocational School at UNDIP to intern at archive and library institutions, including those based on digital systems, so they can gain direct experience in modern information management.
- Joint Workshops and Seminars: Organizing workshops and seminars on managing archives and digital libraries, aimed at sharing insights and current solutions in facing the developments in information technology.
- Joint Research: Collaborative research focused on innovations in archive and digital library management, including the development of integration systems that allow easier and more efficient access to information for the public.
- Integration of Digital Library Systems: Building synergy to develop an integrated library system, enabling fast, easy, and secure access for users from both academic and general public sectors.
This cooperation is deemed very important in facing the digital era, where information management involves not just the digitization of archives, but also efficient and integrated digital libraries.
The Head of the Central Java Provincial Archives and Library Service, De Francisco Da Silva Tavares, stated, “This cooperation is an important step in ensuring that information technology can be optimally implemented in archive and library management. With better system integration, we hope to provide faster and more accurate information access to the community.”
Dean of the Vocational School at UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si, added, “This collaboration will not only strengthen the academic capacity and practical skills of our students but also bring real benefits to information management in Central Java. With this synergy, we are committed to developing an integrated digital library in response to the increasingly complex information era challenges.”

The event was also attended by several partners from the Central Java Provincial Archives and Library Service, including the Vocational School of UGM, Open University, FIB UNS, UIN Salatiga, UKSW, and Pura Mangkunegaran.
